Foreign Mothers - DUH (New Vinyl LP)

Foreign Mothers was formed in 2011 by Kana Harris and Stephanie Mueller, with the idea that they could make a band that represented themselves. They enlisted Christina Lough, a local photographer who knew how to play traditional Korean drums, and set out to write songs that encompassed the messiness of being mixed and non-male in modern times. Foreign Mothers (named after each of the members being first-generation Americans on their mother's side) fizzled out before the social media boom really hit, which left a lot of their experiences offline and undocumented. For the 10th anniversary of starting the band we decided to make our music free, in the hopes that it will inspire someone else who doesn't know what they're doing to pick up an instrument, too.
